Re:WalkRun

PRIVACY

Updated 13 October 2026

Re:WalkRun makes map films of your workouts on your iPhone. Your workouts, their routes and your photos never leave it, and Re:WalkRun collects no data about you or how you use it.

Apple Health

With your permission, Re:WalkRun reads your workouts from Apple Health: their type, start and end, distance, duration, energy, heart rate, elevation and route. It uses them only on the iPhone, to list your workouts, make films and find your personal records. A summary of your workouts (dates, types and totals, for the records) is kept in the app's own storage on the iPhone. Re:WalkRun never writes to Health, and health data is never sent anywhere, used for advertising or shared with anyone.

Photos

If you allow it, Re:WalkRun looks for the photos you took during a workout (by their time) to show them along its route, and asks before adding them. Copies are kept with the film on the iPhone. When you save a film or a record certificate, it is added to your photo library. Photos are never uploaded.

Films, records and titles

Films, their settings and record certificates are made and kept on the iPhone. Deleting a film removes it; deleting the app removes everything Re:WalkRun kept. Title ideas are written by Apple's on-device Foundation Models when Apple Intelligence is on, from a few lines about the workout (type, time of day, place name, distance); nothing leaves the iPhone. The start and finish of every film are trimmed by 200 m by default so your home doesn't show.

Maps

To draw maps, Re:WalkRun downloads map tiles: square pieces of the world map, fetched by their grid position and the same for everyone who views that area, from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), Mapterhorn for terrain (tiles.mapterhorn.com) and EOX for satellite imagery (tiles.maps.eox.at). No workout, route or account goes with these requests, but like any web request those servers see your device's IP address and the tile asked for, so roughly which area is being drawn. Mapterhorn says it keeps request logs, including IP address and user agent, for up to 30 days. Tiles are cached on the iPhone; Settings › Map data › Clear saved tiles removes them. If you choose Apple Maps for a film, map images are requested from Apple through MapKit under Apple's privacy policy.

Other downloads

Some parts are downloaded by name the first time they are needed, the same for everyone: film fonts from Google Fonts, Naver or GitHub when you pick one, songs and a small settings file for the map servers from tracevoy.velonspace.com (run by Velonspace on Cloudflare). These servers see your IP address and what was asked for; nothing about your workouts goes with the request.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. Re:WalkRun never sees your payment details. To restore a Film Pass on another iPhone, the film's random id goes with the purchase to Apple. What you have bought and the free Pro films used are kept in your iCloud Keychain.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Re:WalkRun schedules a notification on the iPhone itself when a free Pro film is ready. No server is involved.
